The Area
With Dartmoor National Park on our doorstep, our B&B is perfectly placed for a relaxing weekend or mid-week break. Close to Tavistock and Plymouth, there’s plenty to see and do for longer stays.
Dartmoor is one of the largest and wildest areas of open country in southern England. With heather-covered moorland, deep wooded gorges, lake-like reservoirs and tumbling rocky rivers there’s fantastic walking, cycling and rock climbing and other sports to enjoy. Add in thriving market towns, pretty villages and local farmers and growers producing fantastic local produce and you can appreciate why this is such a great area to explore where you can escape the pressures of the daily grind.
Within easy reach, you have access to activities such as bouldering, tree surfing, kayaking, geocaching, rock climbing, moorland and gorge walking, horse riding, cycling, fly and coarse fishing and golfing to name but a few. For those of you who enjoy less energetic pastimes, there are farmers’ markets, historic houses, museums, craft shops and galleries, gardens and interesting churches to visit.
We have lots of maps, leaflets and guidebooks detailing how you can get the most out of your stay on Dartmoor that you are welcome to borrow. All we ask is that you return them to us after your fun filled day so they are available for others to enjoy; but if you need them again please do ask as we have several copies of most items.
